Christmas: Only the Proud Refuse to Rejoice

“But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy
He saved us…”

–Titus 3:4-5

Suspended in space, unsupported by human hands of structures,
the grace of God appeared–lowly, inconspicuous–a Baby.

Like Naaman, we were offended.  Surely the door to Heaven
would be hard to attain, achieved by few–the dedicated.

Yet without asking our permission or seeking our approval,
God sent His Son–all on His own–for us, the sinners, the worst and the best.

Is this not good news
for souls sunk with a sense of sinful failures past?

Only the proud refuse to rejoice.
